Good-bye,  My Dear

by John J. King

She's packing her bags and going away;

Another man took her from me today.

We've been together for many a year;

Had a few laughs and shed a few tears.

She came home very late one night;

I got mad and we had a fight.

She said she was going to leave in awhile;

To live with him and have his child.

She said he was the most handsome man she has found;

He is gentle, the smartest, kindest man around.

He is tall and slender and has curly hair;

And when he walks by, all the girls stare.

Her love for me has been growing dim;

And she really wants to be with him.

So go to him and be loving and true;

I hope I have been a good father to you.
